Weekly Digest: Clearer Device Lists

Your weekly digest email now names each board in a way you can actually tell apart.

Published Tuesday, August 4, 2026

You might have noticed something odd if you own more than one board: for a long stretch, every board shipped with the same default name. That was fine day to day, but it made a mess of the weekly digest email, where your devices are listed one after another. Seeing the same name twice in a row looks less like "you have two of these" and more like something broke.

So we went ahead and fixed it where the list gets written. If a name is yours alone, it shows up exactly the way you typed it — untouched. Only names that clash pick up a short identifier in parentheses to tell them apart, and that identifier is tied to the device itself, so it'll say the same thing next week and the week after. Nothing gets renamed behind your back. Your boards keep whatever you called them; only the email is smarter about printing them.

While we were in there, we cleared up a smaller puzzle. The digest shows a device count at the top, but the list below it only covers boards that have been active lately — so if you'd switched one off, the number and the list disagreed. That list is now labelled Recently active, which is what it always was. We also pinned down the ordering, so the same boards stop shuffling around week to week for no reason.

Small stuff, all of it. But it's the email that lands in your inbox every Monday, and it should read like someone wrote it on purpose.

If your digest still looks off in some way we haven't spotted, tell us — we read every reply.
